The quickest athletes, the ones that can get the top speed the fastest, are generally the most successful.
We use a 10-yard dash instead of the 40-yard dash because it's closer to measuring the speed and distances you actually see in most sports. The 40-yard dash is an outdated antiquated sports performance measurement. Some of the best NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS players have horrible 40-yard dash times however they have outstanding 10-yard dash times.
We use electronic timing to make sure this test is highly accurate. In sports, hundredths and even thousandths of a second can make a huge difference between success and failure. The 10-yard dash tells us whether the athlete can accelerate the way their sport requires. The 10-yard dash also indicates the type of body control the athlete needs to achieve everything they should.
The 12.6% average decrease in the 10-yard time is like dropping a 5.0 second 40-yard time, down to a 4.38 second 40! Is this the type of speed increases you are looking for?
