Core Power & Endurance

Another test that is unique to GO: Sports is the Core Power and Endurance test. This test focuses on assessing the athlete’s ability to coordinate the power generated in their legs and core, and then transfer the power through the core, to the upper body.

Since the last 2 Olympics have drawn attention to core performance, there has been a great desire for coaches and athletes to have functional core strength and coordination in their program, but very few coaches know how to implement it well.

GO: Sports has gotten even more press on our ability and focus on functional core training. We have had effective core training as part of our system for over 15 years.

How we measure Core Power is we load 20% of the athlete’s bodyweight on a cable machine. We have the athlete stand in a ½ Squat and then rotate 90 degrees to one side as fast as possible, using their hips, shoulders and core. Then they return to center, and do the same to the other side.

We measure the speed the athlete pulls the weight, and a computer will generate a Power-Factor Rating.* This number is a very accurate and individualized measurement for athletic power.

The increase in this number alone, means GO: Sports can double the amount of force that can come from the legs, through the upper body! This make’s the athlete twice as strong in their sport, where it counts.
